The fourth meeting of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup has come and gone, this time in the heart of Texas at the Circuit of the Americas. Although a tough fight to claim points for Simone and Oscar, it was Jordan who shined once again to move to the top of the points table heading to the halfway point.

Qualifying

The Australian put his #12 machine in 3rd place on the grid, giving him six points to his tally. Further back, Oscar made a mistake on his lap, only enough for 23rd while Simone had to sit out qualifying due to a penalty given from the previous round at Long Beach.

Sprint

Jordan, with the championship on his mind, played it safe and took home 4th place after losing a spot on the first corner of the first lap. Oscar made several places and got into the top 20 after two laps, but damage from a FYRA car meant he lost top speed and could only watch as others behind drove by, grabbing 21st. Starting from the final row, Simone tried to avoid incidents at the beginning but unfortunately had a spin and could only get to 26th.

Feature

From 5th, Jordan knew he had long run pace to show, and that’s what he did. Getting a solid start into 4th, he sat back for the first ten laps, biding time until he launched his attack and dispatched Fluke and Benecke before going up against Pinto for the race win. After dicing for the last lap, he settled for 2nd place, moving himself up into the lead of the championship. Further back, Simone and Oscar both overtook several drivers and battled against others for almost the entire race before coming home in 16th and 18th, respectively. They now sit 12th and 13th in the overall table.

The final round of 24H Series Esports got underway at the weekend with the 12 Hours of Barcelona, a stern endurance test in mixed class that tests mind and machine.

The event got off to an excellent start qualifying up near the front, where Dino Lombardi was able to settle into a nice rhythm and work together with the MSI Esports Porsche to best manage the gap to those behind, and navigate the tricky traffic.

Yannick Lapchin took over and as the race went on, it seemed likely that eventually there would be an issue with traffic. Managing the risk without losing too much time is a tricky business at the best of times, and this was a perfect case in point.

Amongst the race, many drivers would be involved in an incident, or a close call. For us, we would earn a small penalty and have a drama when it came to serving it, meaning further lost time. Through some strong driving through the field, and managing the ever present tyre strategy, we brought ourselves within striking distance of the lead, before disaster struck.

The BS+ Competition BMW would lose control in front of Dino, and upon rejoining the track mid-slide, the BMW would just slightly tag our Porsche and pushing Dino into an improbable position. Ultimately it was impossible for Dino to arrest the speed, and the Porsche hit the inside wall causing significant damage and subsequent speed for the remaining hours and fifteen minutes.

At this point we knew the race was over, and had to settle for the best result possible and hoping that the car would hold on for the finish. As it happens, the car eventually would overheat on the final lap, however we had done enough to cross the line in fourth place despite the failure.

The long and the short of it

Overall it was a disappointing end to what was a promising race. The championship had been a bumpy ride however with new recruits Matteo Ugolotti and Dino Lombardi shining in the late season push, we have every right of being excited ahead of next season, where we were able to guarantee our place thanks to our Top 5 championship position.

Round 3 of #PESC in the books, and it was another stellar round for the team. Simone had his best result yet in qualifying taking provisional pole early on, only to be beaten by Jordan who put together an exceptional lap to take his second pole position of the series and making an all Altus front row – a first for the team. Simone got the perfect get away from 2nd on the grid to take the lead into T1 and led from start to finish in an Altus 1-2 Sprint Race result.

The Feature race was trickier however, where unfortunate contact was made with Jordan and Bryn from Coanda Esports while under braking into T1. Jordan and Simone escaped most of the incident and after that it was mostly about setting consistent laps. Jordan was able to take advantage of Charlie Collins’ pass on Yohann Harth to take P3

It was a real tough round for Oscar Mangan, where a qualifying error buried him in the pack and susceptible to a likely incident we all though could happen with track blockages, etc. This affected the sprint race, and then again in the feature race despite holding well back to avoid contact. Nevertheless, we’re excited for the next round where we are confident all three cars can be back in contention.

Last time out it was a HUGE debut. A Win for Tucker and a Top 5 for Cosey. Round 2 made its way to the Milwaukee Mile for the very first time in the series history. Once again, our four chariots were ready to race!

Hopes were high for another strong result, however things got off to a poor start when Tucker invalidated his lap meaning that he would start the race from the back of the pack. However Jordy would nail a top five start for the first time this season.

Once the dust had settled

The Milwaukee Mile is in the rear view mirror, and it was a strong run for Jordy Lopez Jr in the TDM Coca-Cola #3 Camaro. Jordy was running up the front before dropping back late to finish 11th.

It was a great fightback for round 1 winner Tucker Minter, who brought his #33 Camaro up from the back to finish 16th.
