PESC R8: Green Hell Bites Back

The eighth event of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup has just wrapped up at the infamous Nürburgring where 30 of the fastest sim racers would tackle the 25 kilometre circuit nestled into the German Ardennes.

Qualifying

It was a tougher than usual event for the Altus trio of Jordan, Simone and Oscar as they faced one shot qualifying. After the 20 minute session was complete, it was Jordan the highest from our stable placing his car in 12th, Oscar in 17th and Simone in 23rd.

Sprint

The three lap sprint was a go and a large checkup in the first two corners saw Oscar and Jordan lose a few places while Simone took advantage and gained instead. There was some bumping and banging and Jordan fell back to 13th by the flag. Oscar got back to his starting position with one more and finished 16th. Simone was running just outside the top twenty when disaster struck on the last lap and he brought it home in 25th.

Feature

For the four lap feature, it was all about getting a clean start and relying on tyre management to claw back some points. From the outset, all three drivers made several places initially on lap 1 but again Simone was on the wrong end of luck and was punted off the track by a car behind before entering the Nordschliefe loop. Oscar made several overtakes to end being right behind Jordan as they went into lap two. Unfortunately Oscar caught a slow down penalty that would result in him dropping from 12th to 17th and have to move forward again. Jordan stayed calm and settled into a rhythm to hold 10th. After crashes with the leaders, this would end up with a 7th place for the Aussie. Oscar climbed back up to 14th and Simone despite being in the wall grabbed 21st with some points.

Although a pretty average result, the motivation is high as the championship moves on to the public roads of Le Mans for the penultimate round of the season in May 20th. With Jordan looking to solidify his title chances and Oscar and Simone eager to get closer to the top 15, it won’t be one to miss.
