PESC R6: Pack Racing At The Glen

Round 6 of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup is in the books and it’s Jordan who once again extended his championship lead after a thrilling race meeting at the historical Watkins Glen in upstate New York while Oscar and Simone both had mixed results.

Qualifying

Using the classic layout from back in the day, the field would separated by minuscule amounts in qualifying over the roughly 65 second lap. Jordan in the #12 machine would place his car 6th, while Oscar would place himself in 18th with Simone in 24th.

Sprint

The sprint race was a strong start for all three of our drivers. Jordan climbed three positions to make his way on to the podium after a tough fight in the front. Oscar passed stayed out of trouble and after some runs around the outside of the pack, he made his way to just outside the top 10 in 11th place. Simone would also gain ground to match an equal amount of places gained to get 17th.

Feature

After the top 8 were reversed for the feature, it was all about positioning your car tactically and finding spaces with the nature of what was essentially pack racing. Jordan got a decent start from 6th and maintained caution while the front runners fought fiercely to claim the top spot, eventually dropping back to 8th at the flag. Oscar got a great start from the outset and quickly gained spots until he was able to catch the leading pack and make his way into 5th place, his second top five. Simone was extremely unfortunate once again, when running solidly in the top half of the field, he got taken out by another competitor heading up the back straight, ending his day with a DNF.

The drivers now dust themselves off and get ready for the Supercup’s next outing at the illustrious Circuit de Spa Francorchamps in the Belgian hills in two weeks time. Be sure to keep up to date with us on our socials until then!
