Supercup struggles for Warren
Round 3 of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup started out very strongly, with Dayne Warren posting the fastest time in practice, and the 2nd fastest time in Qualifying.
However starting P7 on the grid from the Top 8 qualifying invert proved problematic, with Dayne being caught out on Lap 1 expecting the car in front to have a better run through the fast chicane, and tagging the back of Red Bull driver before being rolled over himself shortly after. Dropping to near last position and with a damaged car, he was unable to gain much ground in the short 15 minute race, and with the feature race taking the grid from the sprint race this one error would compound the weekend further. Dayne would wind up finishing 36th and 21st in both races
For Tuomas Tähtelä, he would unfortunately be caught out in qualifying with a fuel issue not allowing him to complete a respective lap time in the session whilst leaving the run late. He would be 36th after qualifying, and like this circuit where passing is difficult to achieve, he would wind up finishing 27th and 24th from his two races.
Despite the frustrating weekend, Dayne now sits 6th overall in the championship after 3 rounds and is still well in the championship despite a bad round, with Tuomas further back inside the Top 30. To add to a great Murray Walkerism, “Anything can happen in the Porsche Esports Supercup, and it usually does”.
