Altus supporting Team Ireland in FIA Motorsport Games

This weekend the FIA are hosting their FIA Motorsport Games as the Olympics of Motorsport, and it’s being held in Rome. For the first time, the Digital Cup is being contested, bringing together representatives from many FIA member countries to contest in the big event, being run on Gran Turismo Sport.

Whilst we are not representing any nation in the event, we have had the pleasure of supporting and assisting the Ireland contingent for the event, being represented by Keith Dempsey. Keith has a very long history in simulated racing, and has also taken his skills to the track, however his experience is limited. Keith was brought into our Altus Academy for a rapid GT Sport boot camp run by our FIA World Tour team of Kenny Conomos, Nicholas Voon, Connor Healy and Matthew McEwen, to upskill Keith on GT Sport in a very short amount of time.

The racing is going to be exciting to watch, and Keith’s improvement and experience in the last few weeks has been great to see. We wish him all the best for this weekend’s action!

Altus @ PAXAUS 2019

We had a great time at #paxaus with Logitech G, wheeling the G29s and G920s and giving thousands of patrons a great driving experience. Many thanks to Logitech G and ASTRO Gaming for having us on their stand meeting fans and coaching them through how to get to the top of the Logitech G Timesheets.

Simone to help develop Cube Controls wheels

Cube Controls have a fantastic range of high quality sim racing wheels available, both in Formula style or GT style. We were able to sample their latest product range at the ADAC SimRacing Expo two weeks ago and were astonished at the attention to detail that they have already taken their latest wheels, with small tweaks and upgrades to boost their performance closer to perfection.

However they sought out the services of a “Real Sim Racer” to help develop their products further, and we are honoured that they chose our own Simone Maria Marcenò to develop their products even further, directly from their offices in Italy.

Congratulations Simone Maria Marcenò and Cube Controls! Looking forward to the further evolution of your already amazing products!

ADAC SimRacing Expo Report from Germany

It was our first visit to the ADAC SimRacing Expo, held at the Nürburgring in Germany, and it a real eye opener for us all. Whilst we really didn’t get the results that we were after heading into the weekend, we certainly learned a lot that we’ll do different next time.

In the ADAC Digital GT500 we were all set for a comfortable P9 finish, but a fuel calculation issue meant we were short one lap, costing us four positions in the end, finishing 13th out of 24. Ultimately though we were most troubled by our drop in pace compared to racing online, however many other good teams struggled adapting to the overly exhuberant motion rigs too. 😅

Nevertheless by far the best part was going out there and representing the team in such a prestigious event, and of course with all the team members meeting face to face for the first time, and also meeting our fellow competitors of whom we’ve raced online for years before meeting this weekend. Online racing is great, however meeting in the flesh certainly brings a different perspective to it all too.

We can’t wait for next year. The preparation has already begun!

Dayne to represent Red Bull Holden Racing Team in Supercars Eseries!

We’re very excited to announce that our very own Dayne Warren will be representing Supercars giant Red Bull Holden Racing Team in the upcoming Gfinity Australia Supercars Eseries.

Whilst we ourselves are not represented under our Altus Esports team name, you can be sure that the whole team is behind Dayne and will be giving him every bit of support he needs to take to the very best.

Throwback to the G-Stig!

Flashback Friday to 2015 when Altus Team Manager Simon “L8AP3X” Feigl was the G-Stig for Logitech G at the EB Games Australia Expo in Sydney, and later at PAX Australia in Melbourne.

Here’s a little bit of trivia. The winner of the Logitech G29 at PAX is a driver of Altus Esports. Any guesses as to who that is…

… that would be Nick Voon!
