One thing that we are particularly proud of, is our car design. Nothing motivates you more as a driver, than driving something you are truly proud of. With that, we cannot thank iLiveries and their design Juan Diego Sanchez for the amazing work he does for each each time out. The Sprint car and the Road cars look amazing, and we love to capture those amazing race moments, or continue the artistic flair with our photography as well.

With that, we have started collating some key moments with some expert photography, to go with the great car design. 2019 Race Calendar Revealed

It gives us great pleasure to release our calendar of Major Events planned for 2019. This calendar is a guide to all of our major broadcasted races we will be participating in, across key racing categories such as Dirt Sprints racing, GT racing, and new for 2019 V8 Supercars racing in V8SCOPS.

Notable omissions at this stage are the Dirt Sprint Car World Championship races where Tim Ryan will be looking to defend his World Championship crown. As of today, the calendar for those races has not yet been revealed or finalised, however our Event calendar will be updated with this once available.

Furthermore, Logitech G Altus Esports will also be contesting some more local league races in Australia and Europe, however given the frequency and irregularity, this has not been included in our list of Major events.

Be sure to regularly check in to https://www.altus-esports.com/events for the latest calendar.

Altus invited to join SCO 18-19

Logitech G Altus Esports have been invited to join the impressive Sports Car Open league for the remainder of the season. Having narrowly missed out during Pre-Qualifying a few months ago, AE had been placed as the first team on the waiting list. Due to withdrawal from the league, and invitation was provided to us so that we could join at the halfway point of the season.

There are three rounds remaining of the season, and strong finishes could see automatic exemption into the 2019-20 season. That will be our goal, however with this time of the year already being extremely busy with the NEO Endurance Series, GT Pro Qualifying Series and special events, we are realistic that this will be more for as a Wildcard experience than a genuine attempt, however we always enter an event with a goal in mind.

For full dates of each of the rounds, please check out our Upcoming Events page.

Strong opening to Pro Qualifiers

Marin Colak and Vedran Kralj have put together a pair of strong performances to kick off their GT Pro Qualifiers. In the opening race, Marin would start from tenth on the grid after making a small error that cost a few tenths. He would fight back strongly, before handing over to Vedran for the final hour where he was able to pick off no less than six opponents while on fresher rubber, eventually finishing in 5th place.

They would not race in Race 2, but would contest Race 3 which would have the second highest strength of field of the week. Vedran actually put the ASTRO Gaming Ford GT into Pole Position for the start, and then would comfortably lead for 100 laps, and with only 15 minutes to go in the three hour race, a backmarker would attempt to rejoin the circuit right in front of Marin, leaving him with nowhere to go. Heavy contact was made on the front right of the Ford, and the car was too damaged to continue. A real shame as that finish would have left the team 2nd overall for the week. Instead the team would have to rest on their opening race, which ultimately left them in 10th overall after the first round, and well within the required Top 27.

Website Launched!

We’re really pleased to show of our brand new website. Since the team was spawned on June 30th 2019, we’ve been super busy setting things up, whilst being in the middle of a competitive World Championship season. Also with the Sim Racing Esports landscape forever changing, it had meant that our website was delayed from being completed as priorities had shifted, however we are very pleased indeed to now have our website open to all!

Andrew & Marin at the Porsche SimRacing Summit in Leipzig!

In what is a huge step in the right direction, Porsche and iRacing partnered together to create the inaugural Porsche SimRacing Summit, held at the Porsche Headquarters in Leipzig, Germany. To take part in the event, there were two online qualifiers in a Time Attack format, the first being Laguna Seca and the second being Brands Hatch, both in the Porsche 911 Cup Car.

Andrew Kahl (AUS) & Marin Colak (CRO) from Logitech G Altus Esports would both qualifier for the elite field of 32, with drivers coming from all over the world for the event to contest for 30,000 Euro. Andrew qualified by virtue of setting a Top 15 time at Laguna Seca, whereas Marin qualified at the Brands Hatch qualifier.

The event itself was set up into multiple stages, with the first being an elimination round to bring the list of competitors down to the final 16. Andrew would qualify strongly in 6th place out of the 32 man field, however Marin would miss out, and get a bad qualifying draw. This made it very difficult to progress, and where Andrew was able to move to the Sunday race day, Marin unfortunately had to bow out of the competition.

On Sunday, the remaining drivers would be paired up by Porsche, resulting in some interesting but also mouth watering combinations, with each scenario resulting in usual teammates having to race with a usual foe, against their own regular teammate. It was an odd format, and perhaps something that needs to be reviewed in future, but for someone like Andrew who did not have an Altus Esports teammate left, it would have been required anyway for him. In his case, he was paired up with G2 Esports’ Sebastian Job, which on paper looked like a lethal combination.

It start off very strong indeed, with Andrew gaining an a pole position spot for Race 1, and Job bringing the car home in 2nd place.

In the reverse grid Race 2, Andrew started second last but was able to make some ground on the cars ahead, and finish in 5th place, narrowly behind Frederick Rasmussen and Mitchell Dejong.

Race 3 looked to be going very nicely, running in 2nd place Job made a late move for P1 only for it to go wrong, causing some damage and ultimately would result in a penalty, dropping their pair way down the order in the race, and overall.

Race 4 with the Porsche 919 LMP1 car at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps had the potential to be very good, with a 60 minute race and a driver change, a strong pairing would be a good pairing, so they had high hopes entering the race. However it would all come to a crushing end quite early, with an accident at the Bus Stop damaging the car beyond repair before Andrew would get to have a run, and their tilt at the podium was over.

Despite the result, the event itself was fantastic. Porsche and iRacing put together a fantastic event, and one we hope to share with you as soon as the video has been prepared for public release. Many thanks to our sponsors and partners, whom make it possible for us to do what we love, and to compete on the world stage.
