James Scott makes move to Altus

We are excited to announce the arrival of the current V8 SCOPS Premier Series leader, James Scott.

James recently left his former team seeking out other options to go racing. James is not a stranger to many within the team, having been teammates before in other teams. James is very strong in the V8 but also has aspirations within the Porsche and GT categories that we race in.

We feel that James is an excellent addition to the team, both right now, and in the future. James will debut for the team in this evening’s V8 SCOPS Premier Series round at Road Atlanta. Be sure to watch out for the ASTRO Gaming Commodore, with his signature red features.

Welcome to the team James!

Oscar stars in the ARG Esports Cup!

Sporting a Renault Sport Academy based livery, Oscar Piastri raced in this week’s ARG Esports Cup as a special guest for this week. Oscar got off to an excellent start from 2nd on the grid, and put together an excellent drive to take the lead early in Race 1 and was never headed.

In Race 2, it was a reverse Top 20, meaning Oscar as the Race 1 winner would need to start from 20th on the grid. He got caught up a bit early but would storm through the field to finish a magnificant P3 and get a second podium finish!

Tuomas wins Opening Round of FIRSA ESM Qualifying Series

Tuomas Tähtelä has gotten off to the perfect start in the Finnish Sim Racing Association ESM Digital Motorsport Qualifiers, taking the victory in what was an ultra competitive field with more than 150 competitors taking part.

Tuomas would start off P3 on the grid, and with rivals Tuomainen and Alander contesting for the lead ahead, Tuomas’ move was decisive, showing expert racecraft to get around both of his rivals in what were very clean moves indeed at the tight Okayama circuit. From that point, he was able to manage the gap out front, extending out to 2 seconds and ensuring his competitors wouldn’t get another chance. 🥇

For Antti Ahola, it was an unfortunate result. A difficult qualifying phase last week left Antti sitting outside of the top 10 going into the race, and with the bunched pack heading through the hairpin section, another car was spun in front of him, leaving him with nowhere to go other than the side of him. He was then nursing damage for the 28 lap race, ultimately finishing outside of the Top 20.

The series moves to Zandvoort this weekend, which will be very busy indeed hosting the opening round of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup and newly announced Porsche Sprint Challenge, the support category for Supercup. Very exciting times ahead!

Oscar Piastri joins Altus!

We are very proud to announce a new member to the team, and a man who has immense skill behind the wheel of anything he drives, be it a race car, simulator or remote controlled car, and that man is Oscar Piastri.

Oscar last year won the Formula Renault Eurocup becoming the first Australian to win the title, and is signed to race with defending champions Prema Team in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. Oscar also recently joined the Renault Sport Academy, to further a pathway towards Formula 1.

Given the recent pandemic, Oscar has found himself racing regularly on iRacing and showing the raw pace he has to be an exceptional sim racer. We are proud to have him call Altus home, and work together to get the most out of Sim Racing while he is able to do so.

Oscar’s first major race with the team will be in the upcoming BMW Motorsport 120 race on May 10th, at the Nurburgring.

P2 Finish in iRacing Endurance Series Opener

The brand new iRacing Endurance Series kicked off for the first time at the weekend, with the Suzuka 12 Hour. The IES is a four round multi-class endurance championship run by iRacing, featuring the GTE, GT3, GT4 and TCR cars.

We felt looking at the entries, and based on our past battles in the TCR with CoRe, that they were going to be our strongest opposition and that was most certainly true. The race got off to a great start after Jackson Souslin Harlow put in an great lap to go P2, narrowly missing out on pole position to CoRe SimRacing, but managed to take an early lead and stretch the advantage out before handing over to Alexander Lauritzen who would continue that trend into the fifth hour.

TCR debutant Zachary Hanlin was in a tricky situation having just starting driving the car this week, however had the might of CoRe breathing down his neck. He settled into a rhythm and did a great job of keeping the car safe and out of harms way, which was easier said than done with three faster classes moving around you.

At the next driver change, Alex would be back in the car and the 50x incident limit starting causing some concern and in the 7th hour, and unfortunately incident would cost the team a drivethrough penalty for exceeding the incident limit. We then also were caught out with a small crash in the 10th hour with a 4x Contact to then give another drive through.

Ultimately the incidents and drive through penalties were the downfall, and we would come home in 2nd Place behind CoRe who had a great race. Certainly a very solid start of the series, and we look forward to the next round in a few months.

Cube Controls Extend Partnership

We’re very excited to announce that we have extended what has already been a fantastic partnership with Cube Controls. All of the Cube Controls team have been excellent to work with across the course of the past 12 months, and we were thrilled to meet them in person at last year’s ADAC SimRacing Expo in Germany, and to understand their product roadmap and plans moving forward.

The quality of workmanship is second to none, with a number of our drivers currently racing their flagship CSX 2 Racing Wheel, and our team are involved with the beta testing of the UGT software for Cube Controls wheels also, to further the product development for Pro Racing.

We look forward once again to representing this prestigious brand once again in 2020 and beyond.

Farewell Ando!

By mutual decision, we’ve decided to part ways. Josh Anderson joined the team in late 2019 and we have had good success on the track including qualification for the Porsche Esports Supercup. Despite this, off the track there were some other concerns with self motivation which may surprise many including us, but we felt it was best for Josh and for Altus to part ways officially for now, for the well being of both parties.

Incidentally there were not issues personally or any hard feelings, and we will continue to support each other in Porsche Esports Supercup, albeit with Josh racing as a Privateer.

All the best mate! 👊

Ryan wins World Eseries Sprintcars Opener!

Tim Ryan has started off in the best possible way, claiming the opening victory in dominant fashion. The J&S Drilling Altus Esports Sprintcar was on fire, with Ryno winning yesterday’s final heat, and starting from the front for a flag to flag victory. It doesn’t get much better than that! The lead is now 46 points, and we’ll be looking to extend it next round.

Thanks to World Series Sprintcars and Speedway Australia for putting on the Eseries, and we can’t wait to take to the track again.

Altus to Challenge for World Series Sprintcars with J&S Drilling

J & S Drilling Motorsport and Altus Esports are proud to collaborate in the upcoming World Series Sprintcars Eseries by Speedway Australia, as a hybrid Motorsport & Esports team. 2018 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series World Champion Tim Ryan will be contracted to race in the series.

John McLellan, owner of J&S Drilling Motorsports, is excited of the prospects the Esports Racing has and we are thrilled to partner with J & S Drilling to challenge for the win.

J & S Drilling Motorsport has been racing since 2014 and has already experienced great success in the speedway world managing to win back-to-back 360 National Titles with Kaiden Manders, a friend of Tim Ryan’s. We feel that combining our performances of each respective organisation with a former World Champion in Tim, will give us the best opportunity to perform on the track.

On goes the Number 60, and here we go to WSS Racing! We can’t wait to start round 1! 🤙

6H of SimRacing race with Nestor Girolami as a guest

A unique event will be taking place this weekend, the Race Clutch 6Hrs of Simracing. We were honoured to receive two invites to the event, however have only accepted one due to other scheduled events.

The 6Hrs of Simracing is unique in that it is a fixed setup multi-class race taking place at the Circuit De La Sarthe at Le Mans, with three-man teams taking part in the event comprising of 2 x Sim Racers, and 1 x Real World driver. For this event, we’ve enlisted the support of Argentinian FIA WTCR Star & Cube Controls Ambassador, Nestor “Bebu” Girolami.

Bebu met Team Manager Simon in October 2019, when contesting the TCR Australia race at Sandown Raceway where he would dominate the weekend, winning a clean sweep of races! We had intended on racing together at some point in the future, and it is great that this event has come about.

It is shaping up to be a fantastic race, with many real world drivers currently racing in a variety of categories including Supercars, FIA WEC, FIA WTCR, ABB Formula E, FIA Formula 2 and many more!
