Strong opening to Pro Qualifiers
Marin Colak and Vedran Kralj have put together a pair of strong performances to kick off their GT Pro Qualifiers. In the opening race, Marin would start from tenth on the grid after making a small error that cost a few tenths. He would fight back strongly, before handing over to Vedran for the final hour where he was able to pick off no less than six opponents while on fresher rubber, eventually finishing in 5th place.
They would not race in Race 2, but would contest Race 3 which would have the second highest strength of field of the week. Vedran actually put the ASTRO Gaming Ford GT into Pole Position for the start, and then would comfortably lead for 100 laps, and with only 15 minutes to go in the three hour race, a backmarker would attempt to rejoin the circuit right in front of Marin, leaving him with nowhere to go. Heavy contact was made on the front right of the Ford, and the car was too damaged to continue. A real shame as that finish would have left the team 2nd overall for the week. Instead the team would have to rest on their opening race, which ultimately left them in 10th overall after the first round, and well within the required Top 27.
